Lucille was born November 13, 1920, in Fort Worth. She graduated from John Peter Smith School of Nursing. In addition to being a registered nurse, she became a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines (when flight attendants were required to have nursing degrees).
A founding member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Arlington, she was also very active in community volunteering.
Her sassy and dry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her, and her loving warm ways will be always be a part of all her daughters.
A very special companion, Brenda Sorrels, was her best friend during the last three years. Brenda will miss Lucille's "Queen-for-a-Day" attitude and the residents at Villages of Lake Highlands will miss Brenda entertaining Lucille.
Pathways Hospice is simply the best. A big hug and lots of appreciation to Becky. Also, Christy and Bryan for the last few days keeping the daughters appraised of what was happening and treating Mother with lots of gentle love.
Survivors: Her daughters, Marilyn Jones (Larry), Luann Hicks, Adina Christian (John) and Jeanette Norsworthy (Lamar). Her grandchildren include Dustin Soward (Angela), Kristine (Dennis McCarty), Thomas O. Hicks Jr. (Alexandra), Mack Hardin Hicks (Stacy), John Alexander Hicks (Portia), Robert Bradley Hicks, Amelia Lopez (Johnny), James Whittemore (Jillian) and Douglas Wade Pickering Jr. She also has a bevy of great-grandchildren, Preston and Aiden Mewherter, Ava Soward, Isabella Hicks, Eloise Hicks, John and Jet Hicks, Selah Lopez, Georgia and Dean Whittemore and several more on the way.
