Born on January 28, 1939, in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico, Ms. Garcia was the eldest of five children of Leopoldo Garcia Galvan and Maria Engracia Rivera de Garcia. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Jose Garcia and Rogelio Garcia.
Her legacy continues through her surviving brother Alfonso Garcia, sister Maria Gomez, sons Jose Santos, Javier Santos, Leopoldo Santos, Jaime Maldonado, daughter Isela Acosta, thirteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Ms. Garcia immigrated to the United States from Zaragoza to Waukegan, Illinois in the early 1970s, ultimately settling in North Texas during the 1980s. As a single mother of five, she demonstrated unwavering dedication, providing for her children and supporting them as three pursued and completed higher education in engineering, education, and software design.
In her leisure time, Ms. Garcia cherished visiting family in Mexico, cooking and sharing meals with loved ones, gardening, meditation, reading, and engaging with her grandchildren.
