Born Maria Magdolna Pajer on July 14, 1922, in Székesfehérvár, Hungary, to István Pajer and Anna Jani, Maria grew up in a modest but loving household. Her early years, shaped in the shadow of World War I, were filled with peace and the close-knit warmth of family—a foundation that would serve her well through the trials ahead.
At the age of 19, she met the love of her life, George J. Varga, who was then serving in the Hungarian Army. They married soon after, and by 1942, with World War II reshaping the world around them, the young couple began building their family. Over the next decade, they welcomed four children and, by 1954, were a family of six.
Life in post-war Hungary grew increasingly difficult. Political unrest and hardship eventually created an opportunity that would change their lives forever. With courage and hope, the Varga family emigrated to the United States, seeking a new beginning. Adjusting to a new country, language, and culture was not easy—especially with four young children—but Maria faced every challenge with quiet strength and unwavering love.
As a devoted homemaker, Maria was the heart of her home. She and George worked together to ensure their children had the foundation to grow, thrive, and find their own paths. After George’s passing in 1986, Maria continued to live a life of grace, faith, and quiet resilience.
Maria was deeply loved by all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and enduring spirit touched many. She is mourned with profound sorrow by her children and remembered always with love and gratitude.
She is survived by her four children: Valeria Hague, George Varga, Aniko Moore, Eva Harrison (Kendall)
Two grandchildren: George E Varga (Crystal), Tracy Harrison
Three Great- Grandchildren: Ashley Sevart, Phillph Harrison, Nathan Unruk and several great- great grands
