Martha was born on Sunday, November 13, 1960, in El Paso, Texas, to parents Ruben and Maria Llamas Sr. She was the 2nd oldest of 4 children who she loved very much and are named as follows: Ruben Jr., Ronnie, & Margie. While in high school, her love for music developed as she learned to play the flute and french horn in the Riverside High School Band.
In her early years, she worked in an elementary school cafeteria which sparked something in her to work with children in the medical field. She went on to become a nursing assistant working in the labor and delivery ward at Thomason Hospital. She worked in the hospital for many years and found joy in working with and advocating for newborns. Her love for children was constant and she was often an avid donator to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Martha met her husband, Danny Villescas at W.I.S where she was a crew manager. It was their mutual love for good food that grew their connection. Martha married Danny in June of 1991, establishing a family between them and their son Eddie who they loved dearly.
She loved listening to oldies and country music with her all time favorite singers being Kenny Rogers, George Strait, and Elvis Presley. It is easy to say that she enjoyed music more when the family was around singing her favorite songs with her, a memory many will hold dear.
Her knowledge and passion for sports was unrivaled. Her favorite teams were the Texas Rangers and The Cowboys, which she loved to stay up late for to watch and cheer. There was never a time you couldn't find a piece of her favorite team's memorabilia in her room, you could honestly say she was not a bandwagon fan!
She loved and followed the word of Jesus as a born again Christian and often enjoyed going to church with her loved ones when she could. When it came time for her to pass, she stated “I want to be with Jesus,” and so she went to be with the lord.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Villescas and her Father Ruben Llamas Sr. She is survived by her mother Maria Llamas, her siblings, son, and grandchildren.
Martha was a wonderful grandmother to Alanis, Isaiah, Cristian, & Olivia. She was always doing something with or for them. She was always spoiling them with food or trips to the store for toys. She was there for every event and every request, even if it was to play video games. It brought her joy to see them smile and laugh. She loved her grandchildren very much.
Martha proudly became a aunt many times over to her nieces and nephews listed as follows: Sarah, Joshua, and Ysabel Gonzalez. Ruben III (Great Aunt to Landan, Clorinda, Caroline), Nicholas (Great Aunt to Everly,Theodore), and Brittney Llamas (Great Aunt to Abriella, Antonio, Jesse).
Martha was a strong woman, often overcoming battles of physical ailments that impacted her from childhood and into her adult years. Through pain, she found hope in the hardest of times. She fought to be with us as long as she could because she loved us and appreciated everyone who loved her. From the beginning to the end she was never alone, and was always surrounded by people she loved and who loved her dearly. We will miss her for the duration of our lives and, once it is our time, look forward to reuniting with her again.
