Mary Katherin Johnston

Mary Katherine Johnston, age 91, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on , January 24, 2026, passing peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 25, 1934, and lived a long life marked by faith, devotion to family, and quiet strength.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, W.T. Johnston; her parents, Conrad and Minnie Kirschner; her son, Kenneth Johnston; and her six siblings, Anne Bregeron, Connie Kirshner, Bill Kirschner, Shirley Hilger, Joe Kirschner, and Barbara Dildine.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Jesse Johnston, Tim Johnston, Patricia Bourgeois and her husband, David Bourgeois. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Shane Johnston, Chad Bourgeois, Cassandra Bursey, Shannon Warren, and Chris Johnston, along with nine great grandchildren, each of whom brought her great joy.

Mary was the heart of her family- a steady, loving presence who brought everyone together. She found joy in crocheting, quilting, gardening, and cooking. She loved keeping her hands busy while caring for those around her. Her home was a place of warmth, and encouragement, where everyone knew they were welcomed and loved.

Though her absence is deeply felt, her family finds comfort in knowing that Mary is now reunited with loved ones who went before her and is resting peacefully in the eternal embrace of her Savior. Her legacy and family devotion will continue to live on through generations.
