Matthew Boyd Winter, beloved dad, passionate Horned Frog, gifted storyteller, college basketball fanatic, hunting and fishing enthusiast, unofficial Rockport, Texas ambassador, and fan of the Dave Matthews Band died unexpectedly on Friday, May 28, 2021, his 39th birthday.
To know him was to love him. The youngest of four siblings, Matt was born in 1982 in Harvey, Illinois. The always smiling boy nicknamed “Bebe” was exceptionally sweet, radiating kindness and joy. Growing up, Matt was an energetic basketball, baseball, and football player. He and his brother James loved their WWF wrestling matches at home or under a department store clothing rack during family shopping trips. The Lamar High School graduate turned Phi Kappa Sigma Horned Frog also met many great, lifelong friends while studying business at Texas Christian University. He went into the oil and gas industry. The always-humble Matt had a huge heart and never met a stranger. He found extraordinary joy and delight in everyday life. He was grateful for even the smallest of gifts. And he could make you laugh until your stomach hurt.
Matt was a deeply devoted son and brother. But his pride and joy was his beautiful son, Alden Dean Winter. A beaming Matt would say he was the greatest thing that ever happened to him.
Matt is survived by his son, Alden Winter; mother, Dianne Winter; father (deceased) Tom Winter; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Katie Winter; sister, Christine Winter; brother and sister-in-law, James & Katy Winter; nephews Preston, Everett, Beckham, and Worth Winter; and niece, Lucy Winter.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services. A visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012 on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 5 PM until 7:30 PM. A funeral service will be celebrated at Lamar Baptist Church, 1000 W. Lamar, Arlington, Texas 76012 at 10 AM on Friday, June 4, 2021.
