Mattie was born on April 3, 1925 in Haskell, TX, the 7th of 8 children to W.J. and Emma Carruth. She moved to the DFW Metroplex in 1955 where she spent years teaching and caring for children, many of those at La Petite Academy. Her family and friends will remember her generous spirit, lifelong love of children, and passion for travel. She was a member of the Lake Arlington Baptist Church.
Mattie is survived by her husband of 35 years, Noel Abbott, son Edwin “Sonny” Storrs (wife Kay), son Ronnie Storrs, sister Helen White of Breckenridge, her husband’s children Kevin Abbott and Laura Oakley (husband Mike) as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son John “Buddy” Storrs as well as her 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Visitation is 12:30-2:30pm on Monday, December 1st In the Moore Funeral Home South Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 in the same location officiated by Pastor David Jenkins and Glen Johnson. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mattie’s life.
