A unique husband, an amazing father, a precious grandfather and the bestest friend to his grandchildren. Dad lived a very long and adventurous life. From the age of 16 years old, he was out on his own making his mark on history. He climbed through many obstacles, he had an impressive work history and an extraordinary relationship with his grandbabies.
From life on the field, to the top of an elevator, my dad was not afraid of a challenge and he certainly craved better things. He took a lot of things seriously and he did his absolute best to keep me and our family up to date with everything that was happening in the world.
It was very important to him that everyone stay vigilant and gave every challenge in life a good hard battle. We had countless conversations and phone calls about life and all the amazing things we wanted to do together. We were closer than a lot of other people and it means so much to me to be able to express how my dad really was behind closed doors.
He was always looking out for us and his grandbabies. There were so many things he wanted for them and he fought hard to make some of those things happen. From school books to tutors, movies, clothes and trust funds. There isn't one thing in this world my dad was not investing in if it meant his grandbabies were going to have a better life.
My dad wasn't perfect but he was always trying his best to be and that meant a lot to me. I take after my dad, always thinking and coming up with new ways to do more and better. I'm grateful for that. Although he wasn't the biggest party animal, Dad remembered his real friend’s everyday even though many of them never reached out to him. It didn't persuade him to change but to grow more as a person. He wished everyone well and recalled good memories all of the time.
That was one of the most memorable things about my dad. Deep down, he cared deeply and he loved a lot of people, even if he didn't always show it. He loved to mentor anyone that came to him and asked for help and advice. Which I did often. I remember him telling me to remember and learn from the things he tells us because he won't be here one day to repeat himself. That is something he would want all of us to do. Remember the good times, show your love, laugh and smile because that's all we have to take with us wherever we go in life. It was perfect advice.
So we thank you Dad for the memories and the lessons. With much love.
