Nicky first entered into this world on July 24, 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas. The beginning of his life was rough with his elder sister, Jody, but they found a new life under the guidance and love of Carl and Velma Lou Pendergrass, where they lived overseas in Spain. He eventually moved to Arlington, Texas where he attended Lamar High School. In 1974, he grabbed the heart of the young and beautiful Kimberly Jo Smith and he became forever hers on July 3, 1975. In 2002, he and the Yauger Clan moved to Burleson, Texas where he remained until his final days.
He was known as a hard working man who wanted to provide for his family and allow them to have the life he did not. Their family was founded on love, dependability, strength, guidance, and camping. The workhorse he was, allowed him to move up the ladder at Stone Container where he was beloved by his employees. Due to multiple cardiac issues, he was forced to retire in 1995. He spent his retirement relaxing and spending time with friends and family; rode his Harley and watched the Cowboys on Sundays.
In appearance he looked like a rough biker, but he was a loving husband, amazing father, and a beloved Pa-Pa to his grandbabies: Caleb, Aubrey and Jackson. He was quick to anger and just as fierce in his love for everyone. He was a beloved father figure to many who were without and always helped anyone in need, never meeting a stranger. He may have had a rough exterior, but also the kindest heart.
Left to continue on with his memory are his wife, Kimberly Smith Yauger; his sons, Bryan and Justin Yauger; his daughter-in-laws, Alice and Abigail Yauger; grandchildren, Caleb, Aubrey and Jackson Yauger; his father, Carl Pendergrass and four siblings, Jody, Carla, Marilyn and Ricky.
Memorial services will be 2:00pm, Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Moore Funeral Home
