She is survived by her son-in-law, Jerry Bucher of Arlington; granddaughter Amanda Bucher Wells and husband David of Austin; brother Dan Clark and wife Barbara of Southlake; cousin Sandy Freeman of Tyler; and many dear friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Tom Velasco (November 2006), and her cherished daughter, Pamela Bucher, whom she raised with boundless love (March 2007).
Born and raised in Texas, Pat graduated from Decatur High School and earned her nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Worth. She dedicated over 35 years to her calling as a nurse, working alongside two of Fort Worth’s top orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Jim Swink and Dr. Charles Renshaw—both of whom she outlived. Her compassion, dedication, and sense of humor left a lasting impact on colleagues and patients alike.
Beyond her nursing career, Pat embraced life’s simple pleasures—shopping with close friends, tending her flowers and garden, and spending time with loved ones. A passionate sports fan, she reserved a special place in her heart for college athletics, especially TCU. Saturdays often found her cheering on her teams, her energy, enthusiasm, and deep knowledge of the games making her a fun and fiery companion.
Pat built lifelong friendships at the local YMCA, where she walked nearly every day, bringing smiles, laughter, and warmth to those around her. That community held a special place in her heart, and she cherished the bonds formed over the years. Above all, she adored her family, nurturing and supporting Pam with unwavering devotion. Her faith anchored her life, and she found great joy in the fellowship of First United Methodist Church in Arlington. She especially treasured her weekly Bible study and “misfit” women’s group lunches, where laughter and friendship abounded.
