Pete attended Sam Houston High School, where he graduated in 1971. During his time there, he developed a passion for basketball and excelled at the sport, playing a key role in helping Sam Houston win the district championship. His talent on the court earned him a four-year basketball scholarship to the University of Texas at Arlington. After two years, Pete transferred to Texas Wesleyan University, where he graduated in 1975 with a degree in accounting.
Pete began his professional career with the IRS-Criminal Investigation (CI) Dallas Field Office in 1975 , where he dedicated 33 years of service. His commitment and excellence in his work led him to retire as a Special Agent in 2008. Even after retirement, Pete continued his public service at the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas, where he worked until fully retiring in 2022.
As a husband, Pete found his soulmate, marrying Myrna Correa on April 20, 1985. Together, Pete and Myrna created a beautiful, fun, and loving marriage. Pete adored his "pancake girl"! Their love grew even stronger with the arrival of their wonderful son, Peter De Los Santos, born on October 16, 1999. The three of them defined the forever bond that will endure in their hearts forever.
Pete was a man of deep faith, rooted in the Catholic traditions that guided his life. He lived with a spirit of humility, compassion, and unwavering love for his family. Known for his gentle guidance, Pete was always there to offer a kind word, a helping hand, or a listening ear. He found joy in the simple things in life, like teaching his younger siblings the fundamentals of baseball and basketball at the local Hugh Smith Recreation center.
Pete’s love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a devoted son, caring for his parents with the utmost dedication and respect, especially his mother, Flora. As a brother, he was always present, offering support, love, and understanding, particularly in the lives of those who took less traditional paths. Pete’s welcoming nature extended to his entire family, including his brother-in-law, Joe Correa, with whom he shared many memories.
Pete is survived by his devoted wife, Myrna "Kid" De Los Santos, and his beloved son, Peter De Los Santos. He is also survived by his six siblings and their spouses: Norma and Ricardo Sanchez, Richard and Sandra De Los Santos, Viola De Los Santos, George De Los Santos, Robert and Cherise De Los Santos, and Nellie and Stephanie De Los Santos. Pete leaves behind his cherished in-laws, Jose and Maria Correa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both the Correa and De Los Santos sides, along with extended family who will all miss him dearly.
Pete’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his deep love for his family, and his kind, gentle nature.
As we mourn Pete’s passing, we also take comfort in the belief that he is now reunited with his parents, Pedro and Flora, and his brother-in-law, Joe, in the eternal embrace of our Heavenly Father. We find solace in knowing that Pete is at peace, surrounded by the love of God and the saints, and that he continues to watch over us from Heaven.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Pedro will always be remembered as a great husband, relative, friend and colleague to all that knew and cared for him. Pedro will be truly missed by many relatives and friends, cherishing all the good memories shared with Pete
