The Lord called Ramiro “Ray” Garcia home on August 6, 2016. He died at home, surrounded by those he loved most – his cherished wife and daughters. He was born to Carmelita and Federico Garcia on December 22, 1937 at the family ranch in Raymondville, TX.
Ray received his Bachelor’s degree at Southwest Texas State College and started his career in Business Management, which culminated with his retirement from American Airlines.
Ray loved entertaining and barbecuing, or, as he called it, “Burning meat”. His life’s goal was to make his barbeque as delicious as that of his absolute favorite, David’s Barbeque. He was also an avid gardener, and a huge Cowboys and Rangers fan; after his work retirement, he worked for several years at his fun career with the Rangers organization in Guest Relations for the Rangers home games.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved daughter Carmen Grace Garcia Emrick; his sisters Bertha Gardiner, Luisa Rivera, and Celia Estrada; his brothers Federico, Diego, Raul, Ricardo, and Roberto Garcia.
Ray is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucille; his daughters Laura (Paul) Perez and Lisa (Louis) Tovar; his sister Udelia Garcia; his brothers Conrado, Luis, and Uvaldo Garcia; his adored grandchildren Carmen and Isabella Perez and Matthew and Katie Tovar; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home and Cemetery. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Maria Goretti Church on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. followed by graveside services at Moore’s.
