

Ronald Lee Upshaw, of Arlington, passed away on April 4, 2014. He was born in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, to Wilma and Lige Upshaw. Ron graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1957 with a degree in dairy manufacturing. After graduating, he served two years in the army. He then took his first job with Safeway where he ended up in Omaha, Nebraska. There he met and married the late Helen Upshaw. Ron then took various positions with dairy and pet food companies. These positions relocated him throughout the Midwest, Mississippi, Israel and ending in 1976, Texas. At that time, he became a quality control manager for Associated Milk Producers in Arlington. After 21 years of service to AMPI, he retired in 1997.
Some of Ron’s favorite activities throughout the years included toastmaster’s, exercising, playing bridge, reading, hunting, and horseshoe pitching. Ron was a member of the Arlington Ironbender’s horseshoe club and was a 3-time world champion. Ron was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church and Knights of Columbus. Ron was a very soft-hearted, caring, and generous man who deeply loved his family. He will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by wife, Helen Upshaw, parents Wilma and Lige Upshaw. Ron is survived by wife Lita Howell-Upshaw, of Arlington; daughters Barbara Svochak of Hurst and Rhonda Upshaw of Arlington; grandchildren, Brandon, Chris, Samantha, and Kelsea Svochak and Reannen Lamar; great grandchild, Lilly Svochak-Dunn and stepsons Mark and Brian Howell. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Monday, at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. Funeral will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday at Most Blessed Sacrament Church.
