I didnt know Roxanne personally, but i did know her through her book series "Morganville Vampires", im sorry to have heard of her death nearly three years after, but she will always be my favorite author. 
My condolences to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

I have often recalled how my old friend Roxanne used to practice her clarinet in the connecter between two wings of the old Bromley Hall!   We used to talk about how she didn't like the way many sci-fi shows ended and wanted to change them; how she wished she could have gone to Julliard for Clarinet, and of course her pride in her Longstreet name!    Even though stories were always swirling in her head, she was so private about her writings. I knew her talent because we were two writing geeks...But most of all, we all knew her as such a sweet, reliable friend. 

Just found out the sad news today when my kid mentioned that he had read one her books in the school library and I had him search her name on the internet.  This loss will leave a hole, but I am now so glad we actually did  manage to very briefly reconnect last year via email through her fan pages...

Both Roxanne and I worked for Sky Chefs and we became friends discussing  the Highlander movies and series. She gave me a manuscript to read (she printed it on her work printer - lol) and I loved it. She was concerned that she would always have to work because her books wouldn't support her. Well, we all how that turned out! I asked her to sign my manuscript in c a se she became really famous and we laughed as she signed it with a flourish. The manuscript is packed away right now, but one day I will read it again wearing my Morganville "bunny" slippers.  We miss you Roxanne.

I am a first cousin to Roxanne and hate to here of her passing.  I'm the oldest daughter of her Uncle Alton, Hazel's brother.  
I have not been in contact with Roxanne in a long while and I'm sorry for that.  I had not heard of her illness. 
Roxanne was the youngest of us cousins but she was a part of our lives when she was younger.  She stayed with our grandparents while Aunt Hazel recovered from hip surgery.  Don't remember how old she was at the time but really little to be away from her Mother.  
I always thought she was the cutest.
Cat please let me know of Aunt Hazel, last commuication we had she was not in a good place.
All of the Ward siblings have pasted but a few of us first cousins are still around.

I worked with Roxanne at LSG Sky Chefs when she was Manager then Director of the Communications Department.  She was a favorite of all of us who knew her. 

 I remember her favorite holiday was Halloween and she and Cat always had a costume party to go to.  She'd bring photos in to our office to show us how amazing they both looked at the parties each year.  I also remember, Rox and I had a mutual love for the series "Monk" (Tony Shalhoub) and we'd discuss the many entertaining episodes!

She was so admired for simultaneously working a 40 hour week and writing/publishing her books.  She'd be at Starbucks every morning at 5:30 am writing away on her laptop before coming to our office.  Years later, after we both left Sky Chefs, I'd see her now and then at our local Kroger supermarket and she'd say she was doing great, busy traveling around the world with book signings!   I was so happy for her and proud of her many accomplishments.

I miss my friend, but know she's in a better place and no longer suffering.  God bless you Rox … till we meet again!
