Ruben Angel Martinez

Ruben Angel Martinez, age 64, of Arlington, Texas passed away early Sunday morning, December 19, 2021 with his family by his side. Ruben was born August 3, 1957 in Raymondville, Texas to Antonio and Otilia Martinez.

Ruben was the youngest of 7 children and grew up in Arlington, TX. He graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1975 and married Janie Cano in 1979.

He began his career in home remodeling as a carpet/floor installer in the early 1980's and eventually worked for Arlington Carpet (Carpet One) throughout the 80's and early 90's. He was an avid participant in the annual Arlington 4th of July Parade while working for Arlington Carpet and crafted several award-winning floats. He enjoyed building and creating with his hands and used his skills in carpentry to craft many beautiful woodworking projects.

Ruben's love of the outdoors led him to fishing expeditions in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska, hunting trips to Louisiana and Arkansas, and countless camping trips with his family in tow. He was a skilled bow hunter and fisherman who believed in leaving no part of an animal wasted.

Ruben adored his family and fully supported his children in all their pursuits. He was a remarkable father, loyal friend, and generous stranger to hundreds. He will be missed dearly by his children, family, friends and acquaintances.

Ruben leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Janie; three children, Sonya Powers, Angela Pieper, and Eric Martinez; and five grandchildren, Analisa, Catherine, Benjamin, Ethan, and William.

Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Otilia; his sister Herminia De Los Reyes and his brother Rudolfo Martinez.

A memorial service for Ruben will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012.
