Ruth was born on December 31, 1924 in Sentinel, Oklahoma. She grew up in Sentinel and graduated college from Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University).
In 1945, she married Jack Bishop of Ashland, Oregon. They were married for 66 years. After moving to Texas in 1952, Ruth worked in Waco in the real estate business and as an elementary school teacher.
After moving to Arlington in 1969, she worked in the real estate business and with Jack in his technical recruiting firm, Contract Design Personnel. They spent their retirement years in Arlington, although they made frequent trips to Colorado, California and Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by children Anne and Mark Bishop of Arlington; grandchildren Chad Beasley of Fort Worth, Wesley Welnack and Kristin Bishop, both of Arlington; and three great-grandchildren.
