Sallie Pearl Hayes, was born to Johnny Hayes and Ellen Bell (Allen) Hayes, on November 20, 1944 (Thorsby, Alabama). She departed this earthly life on February 7, 2025, quietly at her home in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Sallie received Christ at an early age under the leadership of her father Johnny Hayes, Deacon (First Baptist Church Thorsby). She received her elementary and secondary education within the Chilton County School District - located southeast of Hobson City (Alabama's first established all-African-American city). With a passion for helping those in need, Sallie relocated to the big city, to attend the New York Training School at Bellevue Hospital (currently known as NYC Health+). After settling into a career in Respite Care, she started a family of her own (Venita Hayes - 1962, Tyrone Leon Lineberger, Jr., 1967-2020). With a desire to live closer to her brother (Joseph Bertrand Hayes) she relocated to Texas and expanded her family (Latrice Jackson - 1971). Sallie continued nursing at South Oak CLiff Hospital, Golden Acres and Christian Care, until retirement in 2004. Sallie was a loved member at Dallas West Church of Christ, and maintained her membership until death.
Sallie leaves to cherish her memory: 2 Daughters - Venita Hayes, Latrice Jackson; 3 Grandchildren: Charles E. Hayes, Tamika Nicole Hayes, Zoe Danielle Taylor: 3 Great Grandchildren: Bryan E. Hayes, Kayson J. Hayes, Skylar Rae Galentine; 2 Sisters - Della Jo Mundy (Meridith), Elizabeth Hayes-Smith (Hubert); 1 Sister-in-love - Dorthy Fay Hayes (Joseph), plus a host of extended family and close friends.
