

His funeral service will be held Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 10:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Grand Prairie, 310 SW 3rd St, Grand Prairie, Texas 75051.
He is preceded in death by his sisters Lillian Song and Annabelle Kim and his brother Wayne Song.
Samuel was born in Whittier, California, on May 11, 1930 to Samuel Song, Sr. and Alice Park. With an Associate’s Degree from Sacramento Community College, Samuel went on to work as an aerospace engineer for AeroJet, LTV, and as a NASA consultant to the Space Shuttle. He served two tours of duty as a medic, with the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean War and was commissioned on the SS Norfolk. Samuel was very committed to his wife Helen, family and country. Everyone knew him as a very even tempered man with a great sense of humor that was loved and respected by anyone who met him. He was a devoted Christian and a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Prairie. During his free time, Samuel loved golfing, fishing, bowling, and cooking meals for family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Helen Song, his daughter Debbie Freer and son-in-law Mark Freer, his son Dennis Song and daughter-in-law, Kathy Song, his grandson Cory Jarvis and wife Kate Jarvis, his granddaughter Natalie Crowley and grandson-in-law Chris Crowley, his step-granddaughter Dawn Gonzalez, his great-grandson Gator Crowley, his great-granddaughter Nora Jett Crowley, his great-granddaughter Olivia Jarvis and many friends.
