Steven Bryan Shguit, 42, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on March 20, 2026. Steven was born on December 2, 1983, in Dallas, Texas, to Pamela Shguit and Jonathan Beavers. He graduated from Albany High School in Albany, Georgia in 2002 and continued his education at Dallas Baptist University and Christ for the Nations Institute.
Steven dedicated his life to serving others through education and ministry. He began his journey interning at Reconciliation Outreach, where he later taught at Reconciliation Outreach Charter School. His passion for teaching and reaching others led him overseas, where he taught in China for three years and later in Spain as an English as a Second Language teacher. Upon returning home, Steven continued his calling in education, teaching at Sidney Lanier Elementary School in Dallas ISD, DeZavala Elementary School in Grand Prairie ISD, and most recently at Eisenhower Elementary School in Grand Prairie ISD, where he taught Pre-K and 2nd grade for six years.
Steven’s impact in the classroom was extraordinary. He was named Eisenhower Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2023–2024 school year and was further honored as the Grand Prairie ISD Elementary District Teacher of the Year for 2023–2024. He poured his heart into his students, always striving to make them feel seen, valued, and loved.
Beyond the classroom, Steven was deeply involved in his school community. He proudly served as the PTA President at Eisenhower Elementary and was an active member of the Grand Prairie ISD PTA Council, where he served on the Executive Board. Through his leadership and service, Steven worked tirelessly to strengthen the connection between families, staff, and the community, always advocating for students and creating spaces where others felt welcomed and valued.
On December 31, 2024, Steven married the love of his life, Beatriz Quintanar. Together they welcomed their son, Santiago Shguit, on March 3, 2026, just weeks before Steven’s passing.
Steven will be remembered for his wit, humor, his joyful spirit, and his deep love for others. He was the kind of person who never hesitated to lend a helping hand and often put others before himself. He found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, gardening, ghost tours, making salsa as the “Salsa Man”, playing board games, celebrating Halloween, traveling, going on cruises, spending time at home, watching movies and television series. During his cancer diagnosis and treatments, Steven’s faith was magnified in a profound way. He remained steadfast, leaning fully into his trust in God, and became a living testimony of God’s power, strength, and grace. Even in the midst of uncertainty, Steven carried a spirit of hope and unwavering belief that inspired all who walked alongside him. His faith was not only something he spoke about, it was something he lived out daily, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who witnessed his journey. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his wife, son, family, and friends.
As a husband and father, Steven led with a deep sense of love, and honor. He cherished his wife wholeheartedly and embraced the role of husband with intention, kindness, and unconditional love. Becoming a father was one of his greatest joys, and he stepped into that role with pride and purpose. Though his time with his son was brief, Steven created meaningful moments, forming a bond that reflected his protective, loving nature.
