

Thelma Marie Williams, age 75, passed away peacefully at home in Fort Worth, Texas on December 31, 2018. Known as “Nana” to her grandchildren, Thelma Tennard was born in Navasota, Texas on March 2, 1943 to Robert T. Bonner and Dorothy Bess Tennard.
After high school, Thelma graduated from nursing school, receiving an LVN certification and later married James Williams. Following years of work in the nursing field, Thelma embarked on a career with the Fort Worth Independent School District as a campus monitor. Although she retired from the district, Thelma continued working with at-risk youth for several years and was beloved by the children she mentored.
Thelma faithfully attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth and enjoyed many hobbies. Music, travel, shopping, collecting art and spending quality time with loved ones all complemented her zest for life.
Thelma is survived by her three children LaDonna Tennard, Angela Williams (Raymond) and Andre Williams, all of Fort Worth, grandchildren Julian Ross, Corey Williams Sr. and Tiya West, great-grandson Corey Williams Jr., sisters Deborah Rice (William), Evelyn Perry (Robert) and Gilda Bonner, and brother Carl Warner (Debra).
Thelma was also surrounded in love by her nieces Dorothy Rice, Brandy Johnson, Kenyatta Cooper, Shauna and Patrice Perry; nephews Demear Warner, Derron Anderson and John Carl Gray her great nieces and nephews Nadia, Jamilta, McKenzie, Carter, Cameron, Cortland, Winston and a host of extended family and a close circle of friends. Thelma was preceded in death by and is now reunited with her parents Robert T. Bonner and Dorothy Bess Hymes as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents.
