

Vera was born on August 14, 1931 in Hattiesburg, MS to Aubry Rainey and Eunice (Purvis) Rainey. Upon graduating from Hattiesburg High School she met the love of her life, Bassel Lama Knight, Jr. They were married on June 10, 1949. While serving in the US Air Force he and Vera lived many places, finally settling in Arlington in 1958. After serving his country, Bassel became an airline pilot for Central Airlines, now Frontier Airlines. Over the years he flew thousands of passengers to destinations across the country, however after work he did not want to travel, which would make Vera mad.
Vera did find many ways to spend her time, she liked visiting garage sales and had a talent with flower arranging. She enjoyed TV shows such as Becker and The Nanny, but her favorite as Blue Bloods. Vera also collected little cars, which stems from working at Grubbs Auto Dealerships. She was well known for running their wholesale car auctions. A member of Shady Oaks Baptist Church of Hurst where Vera sang in the choir and lovingly worked in the church nursery.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband.
She is survived by her children, Glenn Knight and wife Becki, Lynn Boelter and husband Robert, and Clifton Knight and wife Pamela; grandchildren, Corrie, Troy, Sara, Aaron, Tracy and Stephanie; great grandchildren, Janelle, Lura, Hunter, Cash and Claire; great great grandson, Harrison and extended family in MS.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N Davis, Arlington, TX 76012. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Monday, September 28, 2020 at Shady Oaks Baptist Church, 1336 Cavender Dr, Hurst, TX 76053. Interment to follow at Blue Bonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville, TX.
