Wadie Huskey, a compassionate, cherished, generous, selfless, and devoted woman, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on March 10, 1926, Wadie lived a full and impactful life, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Wadie attended Colorado City High School, graduating in 1943. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Weldon Roberts Huskey, and together they had two wonderful children. A devoted homemaker, Wadie also found fulfillment in volunteering. She dedicated over 52 years of her life to the Auxiliary at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. Her journey began with mail and floral deliveries, but her true passion was creating homemade and hand-sewn pillows for patients, crafting over 1,000 "made with love" pillows.
In her personal life, Wadie was known for her love of sewing, cooking, crafts, cards, dominoes, crosswords, and puzzles. Fondly referred to as the "Cake Lady," she was known for her homemade lemon pound cakes, which she generously shared with those in need of comfort. Even in her last few months, Wadie remained active, always offering to assist the aides in memory care by folding napkins or sweeping the floor from her wheelchair.
Wadie's Christian faith was evident in every aspect of her life. She was a faithful member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for over 50 years and later attended the Church of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church.
Wadie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Weldon Roberts Huskey; her parents, John Nick and Bertie Bunn Harris; her brothers, Howard Harris, Aaron Harris, Raphel Harris, Hubert Harris; and her sisters, Edith Harris and Lottie Harris Holt.
She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her daughter, Rebecca McConnell and husband Kenny; her son, Clayton Huskey and wife Darlene; her grandchildren, April, Michael, Shannon, Christopher, and Jennifer; and her great-grandchildren, Ellie, Bea, Jessica, Scarlett, and Drew, along with many nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012, on January 2, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. A committal service will also take place on the same day at the same location.
Wadie's life was one of grace and generosity, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
