Visitation for Mr. Wayne Hunter will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location.
Wayne Keller Hunter was born to Alan and Betty Hunter in Frederick, Maryland on August 11, 1956. Early in his life, his family moved to various cities, and Wayne graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in 1974. He proudly attended West Virginia University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and graduated in 1982. Wayne also earned a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (Environmental) from The University of Texas at Arlington in 1991.
For the last forty years, Wayne held various roles managing design of water and wastewater pipelines with the Trinity River Authority, MWH, Espey Consultants, RPS Espey, and most recently Gresham Smith where he was involved in supporting municipalities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He was excited by his work and forged strong bonds with his teams throughout his career.
Wayne had a huge heart and was beloved by family and friends and colleagues. He was as quick to make a joke as he was to laugh. He was an illustrious and prolific storyteller. He was very smart and very optimistic. Wayne had an immense appreciation and enthusiasm for life. He told people he loved them. He dreamed big and was grateful for everything. He loved the outdoors, grilling, fishing, watching sports in person and on television (or listening to his teams on the radio), playing guitar, woodworking, landscaping, and he was in awe of his two grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Debra Hunter and children, Monica Hunter, of Arlington, Sheila Jones and her husband, Tyler, their children Finley and Penelope of Southlake, and many extended family members and friends.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Betty Hunter, his parents-in-law Pete and Jeanne Cooper, his brother, Paul Hunter, his sister Glenda Milburn, his brother in law Roger Ambrose, his sister in law Bonnie Hunter, his nephew Joey Conner, his niece Talia Belcher, and his great-nephew Tyler Wiles.
