Yadira was born in Cartagena, Colombia, September 15, 1940. She loved God, her family and her friends with a pure and genuine heart. She loved being a wife and mother. She was especially kind and spicy. She was innately generous, with her heart, her time and her talents, which were many. She received an Associate of Arts degree in Fashion and Merchandising. She was a creative seamstress, fashion designer, party planner, decorator, wedding cake maker, painter, chef, and wordsmith.
She was an avid fan of “chopping” aka “shopping”, eating “postres” aka "desserts", and the cure all “vaporu” aka "Vicks VapoRub". Her favorite saying was “Money doesn’t buy happiness but it sure makes miseries more enjoyable.” (Insert laughter and a Spanish accent)
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Dr. Joaquin Pombo; beloved son and daughter-in-law, Anibal and Alisa Pombo; daughter Angela Pombo; grandchildren Mr. Ryan and Julie Pombo, Jake Pombo, and Mathew Pombo; as well as her extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mercedes Perez; daughter Maria Pombo and son Jose “Superstar” Pombo.
A mass will be held in her honor on Friday, July 3 at 11:00am. It will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 509 W Magnolia Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104.
