Auburn - Barbara Stephenson Finkbeiner , age 90, passed away early Sunday morning March 12th after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born September 8 1932 to Dewey and Alice (Helie) Stephenson in Auburn, ME, being the eighth of their ten children. Barbara was educated in Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1950. She worked a couple of years, including at AT&T in Washington DC before enlisting in the U. S. Marine Corps while there. After basic training, she was assigned to U.S. Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point North Carolina. Barbara worked in clerical positions and for Airfield Operations Office in the control tower. She served in the military for over two years. While at Cherry Point she met her husband, Earl Finkbeiner Jr, also a Marine. They were married November 1, 1954 in Grand Rapids Michigan and had one son, Darrell.
