Barbara was born on June 27, 1921 in Bethel a daughter of the late Norman and Lettie (McLellan) Hall. She was educated in Bethel schools and graduated from Gould Academy in 1939. She then attended Northeastern Business College in Portland for a few months at which time they told her to not continue for she was so fast and accurate at the art of shorthand and typing that they could not do anything to help her improve. At that time she did secretarial work at a Civil Service Job at Navy Supply Pier in Portland, ME. Following this job, she did secretarial work for 35 years at Farrar Brown, an auto parts company in Portland. In June of 1944, she hopped onto a train, making her way to Florida to meet the love of her life, Robert Lee Parker, who was at the time still in the Army. They were married in Stuart, FL on June 15, 1944. They had 66 years together until his passing October 9, 2000. They enjoyed taking trips, traveling to Texas, where Bob was from, Hawaii, Holland and Switzerland, to mention a few. Barbara was a very talented pianist and while growing up enjoyed playing at recitals, churches, weddings, etc. Her love of music was always part of her. While living for 3 years at Schooner Estates, she very seldom missed a musical presentation there, usually being the first in line. Barbara is survived by her brother Quentin Hall and his wife Gloria of Auburn, brother-in-law William B. Lever of Auburn, sister-in-law Lilly Hazard of San Antonio, TX and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Lee Parker, a brother Bradley Hall, and her sisters Murial Lever and Ruth Hall. The family wishes to thank Marshwood Center for the wonderful care Barbara was given both on the rehab floor and then the long term care floor as well as the entire staff of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Barbara during her final days.
