

Auburn - Cynthia Ann Provost, 80, of 85 Caron Lane, Auburn died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Odd Fellows Home where she resided for the past 2 1/2 years. Born in Lewiston March 11,1934, the daughter of the late Frederick Oscar & Etheldreda Matthews Whitmore, she graduated from E L H S in the Class of 1951. A member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish at St. Philip's Church, she served on the parish council and worked in the circulation department at the Sun-Journal prior to her retirement. She was married to Edward C. Provost on January 23, 1954. He died October 6, 1984. She was a member of the United Commercial Travelers Club and enjoyed camping in Bridgton during the summers, reading, and in her younger years, she was an accomplished seamstress. Mom will be remembered for her dry sense of humor and the love of her family. She is survived by daughters, Catherine Provost of Auburn and Lisa Provost of Buxton, her brother R. Peter Whitmore and wife Constance of Naples, FL & Monmouth, ME, her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Susan Provost of Poland Spring, Ronald Provost of Woodside DE, Constance Jones of Spring Hill, FL, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 am at St. Philip's Church. Burial will be held later this spring at Mount Hope Cemetery. Donations may be made to: American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
