Dana R. Merrill

GREENE: Dana R. Merrill, 54, of Greene, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at his home. He was born on November 30, 1959 in New Jersey, a son of Guy and Joan (Johnson) Merrill, Sr. He later moved to Georgia and then Maine at a young age. He was a graduate of Edward Little High School, class of 1978. Dana worked in sales for several years. He worked for Gilman Electric for twelve of those years. On September 5, 1993 he married Debra Tremblay at their home in Greene. Dana was an avid sports fan, but was extremely passionate about his Montreal Canadiens, Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Red Sox. He was also a big music connoisseur, who especially enjoyed listening to the Beatles and Bob Marley. He will always be remembered for his love of just sitting by the pool and listening to music. He also had a deep respect for nature and its living creatures. He is survived by his mother Joan Merrill of Auburn, his wife of 20 years, Debra Merrill of Greene, his three sons; Joshua Merrill of Lewiston, Matthew and his wife Bethany of Auburn and Taylor of Greene, four siblings; Nancy Merrill of Auburn, Edward Merrill and his wife Shannon of CT., Debbie Girouard and her husband Skip of Auburn and Guy Merrill and his wife Annette of Auburn. He also leaves behind his two beautiful grandchildren who he was so proud of and will miss dearly; Cade and Kendall Merrill, many nieces and nephews, Claire Burke, his former wife, of Auburn as well as his very close friends, Tim Poor, Lisa Fisher, Gene Lecompte and many others. He was predeceased by his father, Guy Merrill, Sr., a son Earvin Michael Merrill, his grandparents; Arlene and Lester Johnson and Joel and Lulu Merrill as well as his good friends Dave Van Loan and Mike Fortin. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday December 13, 2013 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the funeral home in Auburn. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday December 14, 2013 at 11am also at the funeral home in Auburn.
