

AUBURN - Dennis Roger Roy, 64 of Auburn died unexpectedly Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014 at his home. He was born in Lewiston the son of Robert P. and Vivian Goulet Roy. Dennis graduated from Lewiston High School in 1968. He was employed as a swimming instructor and coach. Dennis worked at the South Portland Recreational Center and later in Loveland, Colorado. At the time of his death he was employed at the Y.W.C.A in Lewiston for over 20 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing the rivers, lakes and streams of Maine. He truly enjoyed the beauty and solitude of nature and made many trips into the wilderness throughout the United States and Canada. He also had a passion for music and maintained a vast collection of CD’s and records that he loved to share with friends and family. He will be remembered as a loyal son and brother, and as a friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his mother Vivian Goulet Roy of Lewiston; a sister, Sylvia Roy-Cage of Lafayette, Colorado; a brother, Robert E. Roy and his wife Judith of Raymond; four nieces, Dawn Inderbitzen, Jennifer Stevens, Sara Vanderheiden and Cassandra Stavros; a nephew, Jared Roy and many aunts, uncles, cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert P. Roy, paternal grandparents, Philbert and Leah Roy, maternal grandparents, Ernest and Sylvia Goulet, and sister, Leah Roy. Visitation at Fortin/Auburn on Saturday, January 3, 2014 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
