

Dominique Casavant, 84, of Auburn, died on January 16 surrounded by his family. His parents were Dominique Casavant and Alice Guimond Casavant. He graduated from St. Dom’s High School and from Bates College with a degree in Physics. Upon graduation, he served in the Army. Two years later, he married his sweetheart, Lucille Mailhot. Together, they had four children. They lived in Winooski, Vt. and Dom earned a Ph.D. from the University of Vermont. He taught Physics at St. Michael’s College for 45 years and coached the ski team. He served as Mayor of Winooski and later as a Representative in the Vermont House. After retiring from St Mikes, he moved to Auburn and taught Statistics at Central Maine Community College until May of 2014.
Dom’s greatest love was for his family - his wife Lucille, his children, Catherine and her husband John Colardi, Thomas, Jay and his fiancé Uli Stewart, Terrie Casavant, wife of his deceased son Andre, and seven grandchildren, Lauren and her husband Ryan Huber, Brendan, Ben, Ellen, Eric, Danielle and Andrew.

Visitation Fortin Auburn Sunday Jan 18, from 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday Jan 19, at 11 AM at The Basilica of Ss. Peter & Paul (Upper Church).
