“Sorrow comes in great waves.. but it rolls over us, and though it may almost smother us, it passes and we remain” - Henry James

My papa was a humble and incredibly intelligent man. He never liked to be the center of attention, in life and now in death. He wouldn’t want us to focus on the sadness of his departure, but on the happiness in our lives, he would want us to appreciate those who are standing beside us today, and the days to come. Although it may feel nearly impossible to find happiness in times like these. Papa will always be remembered by those who knew him and loved him. Although we miss him, his smile, his laugh, his story’s, his love. We take in the good feeling of our memories of him.

My Friend Gary,
To the great man who single handedly transformed 1 Memorial Dr. into a wonderful vacation home. I don't know if I could still own this property if it wasn't for your hard work and talent transforming and keeping this place looking as it does today. You always treated it as if it were your own, and for that I'm so very grateful.
I'm going to miss the great 4th of July's with you and your wonderful family which I know was your heart and soul. So many fun times.
Not only did you do work for me for over 30 years but you were also a great friend. I'm going to miss talking politics & football with you. To think that your last job in your great career was working at my home, your finger print will be here forever my friend.
Love You,
George

My grandfather was the strongest and most whole hearted man I know. He lived to protect his country and his family. He lived to teach us, to care for us, to love us. I will never forget shooting guns from his kitchen window, learning my poker face from him, teaching me how to hustle and hustling $5 out of him for a mouse sharpener I bought from a book fair, the late nights at the kitchen table hearing his story’s from the military, seeing how happy and excited he got when he would talk about being in the military or a house he was building. Papa was a man of very very many talents, and he was a master at all of them, especially at being a grandfather. Papa, I miss you every day. I miss your laugh, you telling me to keep my car under 100 because I think I’m a full time race car driver, telling me how much you love me and that I am the apple of your eye, your hugs, your enthusiasm, your positivity. You’re on my mind everyday, and you show up in my dreams every night. The mixed scent of cigarettes, beer & wood will forever make my heart heavy and make me look around for you. Every black Ford truck with a ladder rack will have me doing a double take to just see your arm hanging out of the window. Every Christmas season when the Hickory Farms Sausage stands hit the mall, my heart will hurt because that is what I would buy for you EVERY year, and you would shake the box and say “hmm I wonder what’s in here” when you already knew exactly what it was, and I would help you, I will still continue to buy you that and I will enjoy it with you. While you are no longer here to say you’re proud of me, I carry your strength in my heart. For you papa, I will keep my head held high, my poker face on, my morals strong, my love stronger, and I will continue to keep you proud of me. Although 24 years with you wasn’t nearly long enough, thank you, for all you have done for me, for loving me, I love and I miss you papa, until we meet again.
With all the love in my heart, your jordy.

Not many people know how much of an inspiration Gary was to me. There was many times at sat at his kitchen table just talking and stressing about my problems and Gary would always listen; of course he’d call me an idiot and tell me he’s gonna knock my teeth in if I didn’t smarten up, but always had a useful bit of information or prior knowledge that always helped. He was always willing to lend a hand, you couldn’t leave with his tools but you could use any one of them as long as the cooler was full in the garage.. I always looked up to Gary as a father figure in my life.. you will be greatly missed my friend!

I hope my boys look at me the way Royce looked at you. He was always excited to tell me about the houses you guys were doing or how you showed him different things. Being your sons hero is the best thing a father could ask for. You know he’s going to be looking down over you bro… love ya 👊❤️

I hope my boys to look at me the way Royce and the boys look at you. Royce was always excited to tell me about houses you guys were building. You taught him a lot and gave him some huge shoes to fill. Not a day will go by that he won’t hear you telling him how to do something. You are his hero and that’s the best thing any father could want from a son. You know he’s up there watching over all of you. Love you bro 👊❤️
