Gisele L. Gagnon, 85, of Lewiston, went home to heaven on 6/11/2025. Though small in stature, her love for God and her family was a towering presence that will be sorely missed. Gisele grew up in Canada, number four of nine children. When she was 18, she immigrated to the US with her family, learned English and got a job at Bates Mill. She later worked at Marcotte Nursing Home as a medication technician. Not long after settling in Lewiston, she met and later married Bert Gagnon. Their beautiful love story spanned 63 years. Together they had 3 children who in turn blessed them with 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Once the grandchildren started coming, she was affectionately known as Mimi, a title she wore proudly. As the spiritual matriarch of the family, she led her husband and children to Jesus and was always quick to encourage them with the Word of God. She was a prayer warrior and she and Bert spent many an evening lifting up family and friends. They attended First Assembly of God church in Lewiston for many years until her health declined. Small but mighty is a phrase that aptly describes her. We will always remember her as our sweet mom and endearing Mimi. We are grateful for her life and enduring legacy of love and faith.
Gisele was predeceased by her husband Bertrand L Gagnon and 6 siblings:
Jeanine Newcomb, Jules Vachon, Michael Vachon, Laurent Vachon, Cecile Bartley, and Charlotte Larue.
Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter Claire Smith and her husband Greg, son Ronald Gagnon, son Roger Gagnon and his wife Lori; grandchildren Bryan Kenney and his wife Katie, Steve Kenney and his fiance Brooke Leonard, Hannah Verrill and her husband Matt, Rebecca Andreasen and her husband Matt, Ben Gagnon, Arthur Gagnon, great grandson Jackson Kenney, and brothers Rene Vachon and Albani Vachon.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 19th @ 11:00 am, with a celebration of life service to follow at 12:00 at First Assembly Lewiston, 70 Hogan Rd, Lewiston ME. Light refreshments will be served after the service.
