

Lewiston - John Paul Mongeau died Sunday August 17th at C.M.M.C. with his family by his side. Born in Lewiston, Maine, July 17th, 1928 a son of the late Adelard and Marie (Perrault) Mongeau he was educated in Auburn Schools.He worked as a firefighter for the Auburn Fire Dept. for 25 years prior to his retirement and was involved with the Boys Scout Troop 111 for many years. He loved fishing and spent a lot of time at Pittston Farm on Moosehead Lake. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours talking about "the old days." He enjoyed the warm winters of Florida for 30 years, but Maine was his home in the summer. He is survived by his wife of 68 years the former Barbara Brown whom he married March 3, 1946, his son Steve and his wife Patricia Mongeau of Poland, his daughters Elaine Bourgoin of Poland, Donna Gelinas of Waterville, grandchildren, Marc Bourgoin, Matt Bourgoin and wife Beth, Kathy Mongeau and Brian Charest, Odessa Bedard, Andrew Bedard, Robert Gelinas, Three "Great" grandchildren Corbin, Zack and Carter, his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Keith and Marie Brown, Dottie McIntyre, Maurette and Louise Brown, James and Lynn Brown, Linda and Michael Bolduc and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends. Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses in the intensive care unit at C.M.M.C. as well as the nurses on M1. They all made his passing so much easier for the family. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday August 19 at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
