On the morning of April 21st at the age of 90, June Emerson Thompson went to be with her Lord, leaving behind heavy hearts, but beautiful memories. Born on April 7th, 1935, to Roland & Violet Emerson of Livermore, moving to Auburn in 1944. She graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1953, followed by two years of business school.
She went on to work for the city of Auburn -City Hall in 1956, and retired 50 years later. While there, she met and married Raymond Thompson.
A very meticulous and organized person, she never forgot a thing. (Ask her sister). Also a lovely pianist, playing in several area churches from the age of 14, some favorites being Christmas and Patriotic songs, as well as weddings and funerals. There was always music in her house. Although ill, last Easter she insisted on playing “Up From The Grave He Arose” for her family.
June also enjoyed watching NASCAR races, golf, and the Red Sox.
Always wanting to stay fit, she went to the gym 2-3 times a week until 2 weeks before her recent hospitalization!
Generous to a fault, donated to many charities, and helped anyone in need. She EVEN bequeathed her cane to her great-great grandniece, who used it to “play pony”. June was a wonderful aunt, who loved doing special things for everyone, although a bit sneaky!
“We’ll always remember Northburgers and golf balls at Tabers.”
Predeceased by her husband, she leaves behind a stepson, Virgil Edward Thompson and wife, Jan, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a sister, Janice Emerson Ramsdell of Windham. She also leaves nieces Juli Dyer and husband Richard, and Jennifer Ramsdell-Goode, nephews Alan Ramsdell and wife Michelle and Timothy Roussin and wife Patricia. Great nieces Emily, Jaslyn, Victoria, and Maya. Great nephews Hunter and AJ, and a great-great grandniece, Londyn.
Always waving goodbye from her doorway, we tooted and waved back! Sadly, this is our final wave. We love you. Rest in Peace.
Visitation will be held on Saturday May 3, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Fortin & Pinette Group 217 Turner Street, Auburn, where a funeral will follow at 12:00 PM.
