

Lewiston- Lawrence A. Arnold 91, of Auburn died Tuesday December 4, 2012 at Montello Manor. He was born in Auburn, Maine on September 6, 1921 a son of the late Clarence and Enola (Leonard) Arnold. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School class of 1939. While at Edward Little he played basketball, football, and baseball. He then went on to earn his B.S. in Education at Gorham State Teacher's College and his Masters E.D. in Guidance & Counseling at Rhode Island College.Lawrence proudly served his country in the US Air Force during WWII. He married the love of his life Marjorie (Rolerson) on August 25, 1945. He was a principal in Sanford for Junior High and Elementary Schools, High School math teacher and Principal in North Berwick, and High School math teacher and department head of Guidance & Counseling in Warwick RI. He officiated basketball and football for 30 years in Maine and RI. He also coached high school football and basketball, drilled the band at Sanford High School in Maine and Warwick Veterans High School in RI. Lawrence loved to spend many summers at his family camp on Lower Narrows Pond in Winthrop. He leaves his wife of 67 years Marjorie of Auburn, three sons Paul Arnold and wife Claudia, of PA, Robert Arnold and wife Cindy of RI and Bruce Arnold and wife Ana of CA, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son David Arnold a daughter in law Lynn Arnold, brothers: Ernest, Eldreth and Clarence Jr., sisters Dorothy Doughty and Marion Given.
