Nathan W. Morris

Auburn - Nathan W. (Bill) Morris, age 86 and a resident of Upper St. in Turner, passed away early Wednesday morning May 18th at the Hospice House with family at his side. He was born in Turner April 1, 1925 a son of Henry and Rose (Dorr) Morris. He was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. In 1946 he married the former Alberta Briggs and together they settled in Turner to raise their family. Bill worked many years as a farmer but also had spent a number of years working as a cattle dealer, building contractor, real estate agent, store keeper and well-driller. He served as Director and Vice President for 24 years for Farm Credit of Southern Maine, was a member and Past President of DHIA, Past member and Deacon of Turner Center Universalist Church, member of the Holstein Association, Pine Tree State Holstein Association, member and Past Vice President of A.S.C., member of the Maine Farm Bureau, Kora Temple Shriners and Commandery #6 in Lewiston. Bill was also a brother in Nezinscot Lodge # 101 in Turner, a member of Androscoggin Shrine Club, Past Chairman of the Turner Planning Board which started in 1963, a New England Green Pastures winner in 1960, member of the Chamber of Commerce and Leader of 4-H Willing Dairy Workers in 1950.He was a loving, devoted and hard working husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Rifkin, his nurse Lorraine, and Dr. Austin and the entire staff at The Hospice House for the care, support and compassion shown to Bill and his family during his illness He leaves his wife of 64 years, Alberta Morris of Turner, his two daughters Joanne Allen and husband Brian of Turner and Tracy Leavitt and husband Stephen of Harpswell, his son Gary Morris and his wife Tricia of Hartford, Maine, daughter-in-law Sherry Morris of Auburn, eleven grandchildren Stephanie, Jennifer, Christopher, Travis, Casie Jo, Jesse, Jayna, Tammy, Taylor, Ben and Eli, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins who cared deeply for Bill.
