Robert R. Hamel

Auburn - Robert R. Hamel 90 of Clover Manor died Friday May 9 where he resided for the past 10 years. Born in Somersworth, NH March 20, 1924 a son of the late Joseph & Regina Collette Hamel. He graduated from Lewiston High School in the Class of 1943 and was married to the former Cecile E. Comeau April 2, 1945. She died January 28, 1999. Mr. Hamel was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Cross Church and had been a bookkeeper at LeBlanc's Clothing Store for 26 years, Enterprise Foundry for 10 years and worked in the operating room at St. Mary's Hospital prior to his retirement. Bob enjoyed the ocean, loved to shop and playing card games. Our dad will be remembered for the love of his family and especially his grandchildren. He is survived by 2 daughters Pauline Roux of Saco, Denise Arsenault and husband Roger of Clinton, MA, 3 sons, Richard A. Hamel of Auburn, Normand R. and wife Jackie Hamel of Lewiston, Paul D. and wife Tracy Hamel of Colorado Spring, CO, 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons. He was also predeceased by a grandson, 2 sisters and 4 brothers. The family wishes to thank Clover Manor & Androscoggin Hospice & Home Care for their compassionate care rendered to our Dad. Visitation Fortin / Auburn Wednesday 2 - 4 & 6 - 8. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 9:00am May 15 at Holy Cross Church. Committal St. Peter's Cemetery.
