Robert Parker Nason, 90, of Auburn passed away at his home with his family following a short illness. He was born in Auburn on August 1, 1928, a son of the late John Willis and Gladys Elizabeth (Parker) Nason. He grew up in the Auburn area and attended local schools. He was a graduate of Edward Little High School, class of 1946. After high school, he worked as a projectionist at The Auburn Theater and also at Cities Service Center on the Maine Turnpike. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was discharged in 1953. When he returned home to Maine from his service in the military, he worked at the Empire Theater in Lewiston then worked for 25 years at Eastern Air Lines in Boston and Orlando. Bob received many merit awards at the airlines over the years for his excellent customer service and compassion to traveling families and their needs. Bob married the late Theresa Louise (Kane) Nason on May 20, 1954. His love of family was his foremost passion. He never missed his grandsons' baseball, soccer and hockey games ... Everyone at their games knew him as "Grampie". Bob traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe with his family and enjoyed teaching his children about different states, countries, and people. The newest light of his life was his great-granddaughter, Emily.
Bob is survived by daughter, Trudy Nason Welder and companion Colby Keith of Auburn, son Ricky Nason and wife Tina of Lewiston, grandsons Scott of Lewiston and Brian and his wife Nicole of Auburn, and great-granddaughter Emily Lynn Nason of Auburn. He also leaves behind siblings John W. Nason, Jr of Minot, Arlene Johnson of Poland, Donald Nason of Auburn and a great many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four siblings Richard Nason, Harold Nason, Albert Nason, and Barbara Leighton.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Michaud, Dr. Patrick Hohl, Dr. Michael Parker, First Light Home Care, and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, especially his nurse April, for their compassionate care and devotion shown to Bob during his time of need.
Visiting hours will be held at Fortin/Auburn on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 1-3 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3 pm. Interment with military honors will be held at Pine Street Cemetery in Auburn.
