

Rosario was born on May 3, 1941 in Lewiston, Maine, the son of Laurette Jourdain and Emile Gendron. He spent his growing up years with his three siblings: Henry Gendron, Robert Gendron and Fern Gendron. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1960. After high school, he joined the Army and was assigned to a Transportation Unit in Stuttgart, Germany. Upon discharge from the Army in 1963, he married his long time sweetheart, Juliette Alice Fontaine, on November 28, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lewiston, Maine. They were married for 58 years.
Rosario loved fishing, camping, four wheeling, cooking on the grill, woodworking, holiday decorating, gardening, landscaping, and home improvement projects. He enjoyed camping at River Bend Campground, Beaver Brook Campground and Lake St. George State Park as well as going to Eustis, Maine on family trips. Rosario enjoyed watching sports on TV like football, basketball, baseball and golf. He was an avid New England Patriots fan and was often seen wearing his Patriots memorabilia. Rosario loved spending time with his family, enjoying many Sunday dinners. He did not like to be idle and was always looking for a project to complete. He had a great love of sweets, especially baked goods. In his younger days, Rosario had a passion for riding motorcycles.
His first job was milking cows at Gendron’s farm in Lewiston, Maine. He then worked at Lucille’s lunch as a cook from August 1963 until September 9, 1967. From there he worked at Carol’s Cutrate from September 1967 until September 1971. Until he found his long term job, he worked at the fairs that took place in Lewiston. From December 19, 1971 to March 19, 2004, he worked at Philips Elmet in Lewiston, Maine as a tool machinist, a career that he greatly enjoyed. Upon retirement from Philips Elmet, Rosario quickly became bored and returned to work for Aubuchon Hardware in Lisbon Falls from 2004 until May 3, 2021.
He is survived by his three daughters: Pauline Gendron of Lisbon Falls, Patricia Paar and her husband Ray of West Paris and Kathy Boivin of Hayes, Virginia; five grandchildren: Matthew Gendron and his wife Caitlin of Hartford, Maine, Amanda Boivin and her husband Adam Johnson of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Ciara Gendron of Lisbon, Maine, Brandon Boivin of Hayes, Virginia and Jacob Paar of West Paris, Maine. He was also blessed by five great-grandchildren: Khloe and Matthew Gendron of Hartford, Maine, Isabella Gendron, Scarlett Moody, and Willow Moody of Lisbon, Maine.
He was predeceased by his wife Juliette, his parents, Laurette and Emile Gendron, his brother, Fern Gendron and his two grandchildren, Julie and Joseph Pomerleau.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at the Fortin Group, 217 Turner Street, Auburn, Maine.
An in house Liturgy of the Word and Military Honors will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 8th, followed by a catered reception at the Fortin Group in Auburn.
