Theresa Lucia Marquis

Theresa Lucia Marquis, 90, passed away peacefully at Schooner Memory Care in Auburn with her family by her side on June 11. She lived most of her life at Little Wilson Pond in Turner. Theresa was born in Lewiston on March 16, 1934 to the late Gedeon and Lucia Boisvert. She attended Holy Family Catholic School and was an active member at Holy Family Church where she received all her sacraments.

Theresa married the love of her life, Norman Marquis on June 12, 1954 at Holy Family Church in Lewiston. Together they raised their five children and four boxers at their home in Turner.

Theresa was always giving of herself. She enjoyed crocheting mittens and scarves for her family and community. She will be remembered best for her cooking/baking: Birthday cakes, wedding cakes, baptismal cakes, cookies and more cookies; large family dinners–Sunday evenings, holidays, just because days. Theresa could always be found cooking with a smile on her face.

Theresa loved nature. She could readily identify the numerous birds that would flock to her bird feeders. She especially loved hand-feeding chickadees in the winter, watching hummingbirds in the summer, and admiring the sight of eagles flying over the pond.

Family meant everything to Theresa. The constant sparkle in her eyes when family visited her home at the pond. Every season held special moments for Theresa and her family–swimming, fishing, sledding, board games, making puzzles, quiet chats,–the list goes on and on. Family BBQs at Range Pond and Apache Campground hold fond memories.

She is survived by her children: Sue and Joe Conroy of Hartford, Ronald Marquis of Turner, Donna and Ken Bates of Turner, Nancy Brown of Lewiston, and Mike and Pam Marquis of Auburn/Oxford; her grandchildren: Joseph, John, Shara, Jennifer, Kenneth, Matthew, Tiffany, Zachary, Michael, Elizabeth, and Victoria; and ten great grandchildren.

Theresa was predeceased by her parents, Gedeon and Lucia Boisvert; her siblings, Irene Ouellette, Cecile Buck, Romeo Boisvert, Rosaire Boisvert, Roger Boisvert; her husband, Norman Marquis; infant son, Daniel; and grandson JJ Ellis.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Schooner Memory Care for all the love they showed Theresa over the past 18 months.
