It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of Beatriz Lopez, our cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who departed this earth on August 3rd, 2025.
Beatriz was born on June 4th, 1936, in Lordsburg, New Mexico. She was one of nine children of Juan and Christina Murillo. She grew up in a loving and humble home, where she learned the value of a strong work ethic. While in high school, she worked for Estrada’s Market, then Mayfair Market for over 25 years. She worked at several locations in Bakersfield. It was the many years of working behind the check stand that she became a recognizable face around town. Everywhere she went people would stop and talk to her.
In 1956 she married the best man she’d ever met, Fred Lopez. They spent the early years of their marriage going out dancing with their friends and family. After many years of praying for children, they were blessed with three: Fred Lopez, Lorri Fleming (Jeff Fleming) and John “JJ” Lopez. She was a loving grandmother to Brittany (Charles Johnson), Jeffrey, Ryan, and Kailyn. She was an adoring great grandmother to Chloe Grace and Jaidyn. Over the last several years, she created a wonderful bond with Chloe Grace. They often played pretend travel, did make overs and watched The Christley’s together. When she wasn’t spending time with her family, she enjoyed gambling at the casinos, watching the cooking channel, but never cooking any of the recipes, and long walks down the aisles of the Dollar Tree. Her love lives on in the lives she touched, the traditions she passed down, and the memories we will forever treasure.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Beatriz is now resting in peace, reunited with her husband, son, and the loved ones that went before her. Her spirit remains with us, guiding, and loving us from afar.
Rest in peace, Beat-riz. You were the heart of our family, and you will be deeply missed, always remembered, and forever loved.
