Charles "Chuck" Walter Weese was born on August 27, 1933 in van Buren, Arkansas and passed from this life on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in Bakersfield, California.
He graduated from Kern Union High School (now BHS) in 1952 and his first employment was working in assembly for Lockheed in Bakersfield, California. He left to serve in the Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Afterwards, Charles returned to work for the Lockheed in Burbank, California and later worked for the Kern County Fire Department until his retirement in 1975.
Charles had three children from his first marriage to Shirley Pauley. He is preceded by his sons Charles Walter Weese Jr., Steven L. Weese and grandson Sean Hollar. He is survived by his daughter Robin Ann Mehrwald-Weese (Oliver).
On March 26,1964 he married and is survived by his wife Velma Holder and became Daddy to her three boys, Bryant Holder (Christie), Craig Gardner (Mary), and Mark Gardner (Karen). His love came to include eleven grandkids and eleven great grandkids.
Charles celebrated his recent 84th birthday with numerous family and friends at a party hosted by Mark & Karen Gardner. Twenty- six family members were in one of the photos taken that day.
Charles loved to tinker. He fixed most anything. He collected keys, lots of keys. He enjoyed word games and was excellent at solving crossword puzzles. He will be remembered as a man who could be counted on. who fixed things, and most of all as a man who dearly loved his family.
Viewing and service will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. Visitation in on Friday, October 13 from 4-8 p.m. Chapel services are on Saturday, October 14th at 2:00 p.m. with graveside to follow with an honor guard tribute.
