Christina Ann Rockwell passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, on January 3rd, 2021, after a courageous five-year battle with brain cancer. She was born in Ojai, CA to Kris and Gloria Rockwell on February 1st, 1968, but spent most of her childhood growing up in Lebec, CA. Growing up she enjoyed riding and showing horses, fishing with her dad, and playing soccer. She will forever be remembered for her love of life, quick wit, unwavering faith, and her beaming smile.
She is a graduate of Bakersfield High School and was a County Employee for over 25 years. She took great pride in her career working for the Board of Supervisors. In 1991, she married Darrin Grogan, and together they had two children, Tayler and Dalton. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her universe. She often said that her children were her greatest accomplishment. In her spare time she enjoyed (and excelled in) cooking and baking. She also enjoyed reading, drawing, and spending time with her friends and family. There was never a bland meal on the dinner table, and her house always smelled of freshly baked cookies during the holidays, with The Sound of Music playing in the background. Her homemade spaghetti sauce and Christmas cookies will never taste the same without her making them.
Christina is survived by her parents, Kris and Gloria Rockwell; her daughter, Tayler Bussard and husband Trent; her son, Dalton Grogan and wife Casey; her brother Jeff Rockwell and wife Shauna; and her two granddaughters, Addison Bussard and Jessie Bussard.
The family would like to thank her amazing coworkers at The Kern County Board of Supervisors, as well as everyone in the Human Resources and Benefits Department at the County for all of their support. We are also so thankful for the many friends and neighbors who continuously checked in on her and provided meals and support to the family in this very difficult time.
