December 26, 1933. She passed away on January 29, 2022 at the age of 88 years old.
She is survived by her Grandson Andrew Joseph Alderete (who was her only
daughter/child, only son/child) and his partner Alicia C., her brother Arcenio Hernandez,
her brother Mayo Hernandez, her brother Juan Hernandez, and her sister Esperanza
Hernandez, her niece Maximilliana (Chime) Cabrera, and countless other nieces,
nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her Mother Maximilliana
Hernandez Munoz (Her Mother), Juan Hernadez (Her Father), Gregory Alderete (Her
Husband), and Mary Angela Alderete (Her Daughter).
Consuelo was born in a small ranching town called San Miguel De Los Altos,
Jalisco, Mexico where she was the third born child and first born daughter of her
parents. She was one of eleven children. She was not allowed to attend school (even
though she would have loved to) because her mom died when she was only 2 years
old. She had to stay home and help work the farm while her step-mom nursed the baby
and relaxed. Consuelo H. Alderete starting at the age of 5 would have to get up every
morning at 3:30AM to begin milking the cows, gathering the eggs, make home-made
tortillas, and prepare breakfast for the entire household of people, including her father,
step mother, 9 brothers, and 2 sisters. Her childhood was not an easy one but it was
one she would look at foundly in her later years. She married Gregory Alderete in the
Spring of 1968 and then moved from Mexicali, Mexico to Bakersfield, CA USA where
her husband lived. After 3 unfortunate miscarriages, she would birth her first and only
child Mary Angela Alderete on June 5, 1969, and would be one of the proudest
accomplishments of her life. Family was the most important thing in Consuelo’s life. She
was a devout Catholic all of her life since birth raising her own family in the catholic
church of St. Joseph’s Church near old town Bakersfield, where she would attend every
weekend until she could no longer due to her ongoing health issues and older age but
would watch mass on T.V. every sunday with her Grandson and his girlfriend. Mary
Angela Alderete (her daughter) had a son born to her on July, 8 1989 and they lived
with Consuelo and her husband their whole life. Gregory Alderete passed away on
March 16, 1991, and Mary Angela Alderete passed away on June 13, 1998. Consuelo
would raise her grandson Andrew Joseph Alderete and it would be just the two of them
until she passed away on January 29, 2022. She was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife,
mother, and the best Grandmother anyone could have ever asked for. She will be
missed very dearly, but never forgotten, and always loved. She was my mentor, my dad,
my grandpa, my mom, my friend, and most of all she is my Grandma.
Her viewing will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary (9101 Kern
Canyon Rd. Bakersfield, CA 93306) on March 3, 2022 from 4:00pm-8:00pm with the
Rosary starting at 6:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on March 4, 2022 at 10:00AM
at St. Joseph’s Church (1515 Baker St. Bakersfield, CA 93305) followed by the burial
ceremony at Union Cemetery at 11:30AM. If you would like to send flowers, mementos,

I love you Grandma and you will always be in my heart and I know you are with

Love you forever,
Andrew Joseph Alderete
