

Daniel Dean was born in San Francisco, California on May 13, 1941, and peacefully left this world, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters in Bakersfield, California on September 26, 2011. Daniel was raised in San Francisco. Growing up he spent most of his free time at the beach, a real beach bum. He attended Balboa High School and immediately after graduating, he joined the US Marine Corps. He was very proud of his service in the Marines. Semper Fi. Dan met his first wife Dolores Struhar while stationed at Lemoore. They married and moved to Tulare, California, where he served as a Police Officer for the Tulare PD. In the mid 60s Dan moved his family to Bakersfield to work for Flynn Ambulance. Dan also worked as a dispatcher for the California Highway Patrol and for Hoppers as a Ware-houseman. Dan could build anything, fix anything; a real handyman. He spent many mornings in coffee shops sharing coffee and stories with homeless people and Vets. Dan also spent a lot of time in the mountains on his 17 acres in Panorama heights and as a caretaker for the Fullers. He loved the mountains and hiking with his chows. Dan moved back to Bakersfield when he met his true love Linda Brandon. Daniel was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Dean, his Father Glen Dean, and his brother Ronald Dean. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 16 years Linda Dean. His daughters Pam Forsythe, Danette Feeney, and step son Brian (Bonnie) Brandon. Seven grandchildren Megan Feeney, Katelyn Feeney, Sarah Forsythe, Darby Forsythe, Tayler Brandon, Cameron Brandon and Madison Brandon. And by his brother Philip Dean, as well as many other family members and friends. We would like to give a heartfelt thank you to his nursing team from Hoffmann Hospice, for helping him in his battle with cancer. A special thanks to Nurse Desiree for her comfort. Daniel was an amazing man. Wonderful husband, Father and Grangrad. Loved by everyone who knew him. Dan was a big man and could appear intimidating, but truly a gentle giant and a great man. Handsome, Strong and Brave until the very end. he will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29th, from 11:00am to 12:00pm, with funeral service starting at 12:00pm at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. Graveside to follow.
