

Dolores Jean Christian was born on October 16, 1932, to parents Ervin Willis and Olive Lillie Bonner in Ada, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully in her sleep and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at age 90 on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in Bakersfield, California. Dolores became a believer in Jesus Christ at a young age and was active faithfully serving Him at churches in the communities that she lived in for her entire life.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Christian and brother Joe Bonner. She is survived by brothers Billie and Bryan Bonner; sisters Charlyn Johnson and Nancy Bailey, sons Douglas (and wife Albina) and Ronald Christian; grandchildren Rebecca Christian, Danielle Small, Rachel Burchstead (and husband Nicholas), Zhibek Zhaksylyk, and Abigail Christian; and great grandchildren Hudson, Harrison, and Evan Burchstead.
Dolores lived in fifteen cities in eight states due to her husband’s multiple transfers during his career in the oil industry. She was very outgoing so made friends in every city that she lived in and continued to correspond with many of them long after moving away.
Dolores worked at a variety of office jobs for 25 years at HVAC and Oilfield Tool companies, a Title company, municipal court and three school districts. She retired from Panama Buena Vista Unified School District in 1997. She was greatly appreciated, respected and valued by her peers and coworkers at all of her places of employment.
Dolores enjoyed many interests and activities. These included attending Community and Symphony Concerts, the Nutcracker Ballet, Theater stage plays, and playing table games with family and friends especially Scrabble, Skipbo, Yahtzee, Hearts, and Dominos. She also enjoyed traveling in the USA as well as internationally. Her favorite trips were to Alaska for a cruise including Glacier Bay, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; Fiji and Australia.
Dolores was known for her positive outlook on life, a great sense of humor; servant’s heart that was always helping others; and was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as a loyal friend to many. She will be greatly missed and always remembered.
There will be a Celebration of Life funeral service held for Dolores at 10 am on February 1, 2023 at Riverlakes Community Church at 4301 Calloway Drive in Bakersfield, California.
