Freedia was born in Green Forest, Arkansas on February 18, 1927 and passed on December 12, 2016 at Brookdale Bakersfield. She is survived by her sons Ron (Kandice) Cribbs & Craig (P.J.) Cribbs; her grandchildren Tracy (Justin) Redman, Julie (Joel) Griffin, Kevin (Falon) Cribbs, Rachel (Chris) Hibler and Heather Cribbs; step-grandchildren Loree Burns and John (Amy) Burns; eight great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren.
At the age of 10, her family moved to California and settled in the Exeter/Visalia area; where she and her sister, Kathleen (Ethridge), attended school. She married Walter R. Cribbs in 1947 and moved to Bakersfield, where they raised their family. They were married for 36 years until Walter passed in 1983.
Freedia had a 25 year career with Reeder Corporation. After retiring, she worked several more years part-time for Richard H. Turner, CPA. She loved her job as a bookkeeper and enjoyed her co-workers. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her children and granddaughters. She loved to play cards and enjoyed bowling with family and friends. She also loved her church family. Freedia will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Our family would like to express our appreciation to the staff at Brookdale Bakersfield and the Hoffman Hospice nurses for their excellent care.
A memorial "Celebration of Life" and lunch reception will be held on January 28, 2017 at 11:00am at Central Church of Christ (425 S 'H' St). In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to A.D.A.K.C., P.O. Box 22108, Bakersfield, CA. 93390.
