

Grant was born in Las Vegas, Nevada to Emma Jean and Merle Schofield, and later lived with his father and stepmother, Margaret Schofield. He served his country as an Airborne Ranger in Special Forces during the Korean War. Following that he built a career at Juvenile Hall, first as a Probation Officer and later as a Court Referee. After his retirement, he had the opportunity to pursue his artistic talents through creating custom jewelry, metal sculpting, and stained glass. He loved automobiles and magic. He was a cofounder of the Bakersfield PT Cruiser Car Club. He belonged to the Bakersfield Magic Circle and often served as president, Society of American Magicians, International Brotherhood of Magicians, Pacific Coast Association of Magicians (serving as president) and Academy of Magical Arts (The Magic Castle). Grant belonged to Mill Creek Christian Church, formally known as First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife of forty years, Alysce and his daughters, Teri (Everett) Pierce, Debra (Gene) Granata, Dana (Lewis) Luther, his grandchildren, Tiffany (Matt) Funkhouser, Lindy (Mike) Rogers, Tristen (Heather) Luther, Taylor Luther, Megan Granata, Lauren (Aaron) Way and his great grandchildren, Pierce and Carson Funkhouser and Abby Rogers. He is also survived by his brother Doug Schofield (Cindi), their children and grandchildren and sister Marilyn Norried, her children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Mitchell (Claudia) Ashe, their children and grandchildren and his sister in-law Betty Jayne Ashe. Thanks also are due to family and friends, especially to the Merz Family, PT friends and his dearest friend of many years, Dr. Charles McCall. The family wishes to give special thanks to Vickie and Veronica with Around the Clock and Hoffman Hospice for their kindness and support.
