

Helen Mary (Armijo) Gonzales 1923 - 2010 Helen Gonzales was born in Bakersfield, CA to parents Theodore Armijo and Frances Urea Armijo on June 9, 1923 and passed away on July 18, 2010 in the home she shared with her loving husband of 55 years Gilbert, until his passing in 2003. After Gilbert?s passing her daughter and son-in-law, Madeline and Enrique Tello, moved in with mother and cared for her with much love and kindness. Helen worked for Valley Industrial Laundry Services for 28 years. She was a very strong woman who helped raise her younger siblings and then went on to raise her own children while she worked outside the home. She enjoyed dancing and mariachi music, especially her favorite song ?Sabor A Mi?. Helen was a devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary nightly and most recently attended St. Joseph?s Church. She prayed for health and safety of her loved ones before herself, even through her recent illness. She was an angel on earth and now she has been promoted to Guardian Angel watching over us from above. Helen is survived by her sons, Bob Martinez and Wife Cecelia, Dickie Gonzales and wife Karen, Danny Gonzales and wife Lisa; daughter, Madeline and husband Enrique Tello; brothers, Theodore Armijo and wife Petra and Philip Armijo; sisters, Juanita and husband Fred, Dorothy Romero and sister-in-law Emma Armijo. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, parents Theodore Armijo and Frances Urea Armijo, her brothers, Ernie and Ray Armijo and sister Delores Armijo. Mother we will miss you every day until we meet again in Heaven when we will all be together. Love, your family Visitation will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel (9101 Kern Canyon Road). Mass will be held Friday, July 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph?s Church with graveside services immediately following at Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Rick Armijo, Theodore Armijo III, Ray Cruz, Adam Romero, Gilbert Serano, Tommy Tinoco and Eric Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Miranda and Xavier Miranda.
