Henry Aubrey Meador, Jr. 1932 - 2010 Henry Aubrey Meador, Jr. (Hank) passed away with his loving family by his side on October 17, 2010. He was born on June 21, 1932 to his parents, Henry, Sr. and Virginia Dare (Crawley) Meador in Norfolk, VA. While serving in the 82nd Airborne at Ft. Bragg, NC, he met his future wife, Anne Jenkins, on February 14, 1954 and they were married the following March 13, 1955. After his term was over in the military, they moved to Norfolk and began raising their three children. While supporting his young family, Hank worked nights in order to attend college during the day and he graduated with a B.B.A. from Old Dominion College in Norfolk in 1964. That same year, the family moved to Ventura, CA to join Anne's family. He began working as a financial planner at NSWSES at Port Hueneme Naval base and retired in 1987. While working full time dad continued his education and he received his Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California in 1974. Education was very important to our Dad and he possessed a strong work ethic. After retiring, Dad moved to Bakersfield to be near his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Larry Williams. He derived much pleasure from five years of substitute teaching and he enjoyed the new friends he made in Bakersfield. Dad really enjoyed dancing, playing tennis with his friends, and bowling. Left behind to miss him are his former wife, Anne; daughters, Sue Torres of Ventura, and Debbie (Larry) Williams of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Michael (Simone) Driscoll of Parker, CO; Scott (Robertha) Torres of Temecula, CA; Stacey Williams of Bakersfield; Brian (Heather) Torres of Ventura, CA; and 3 great- granddaughters. He is survived by his brother, Donald Meador of Norfolk, VA. Dad was preceded in death by his only son, Steve, in March 2000. The family would like to thank Coleen, Julie, and Desiree of Hoffmann Hospice for the wonderful care given to our dad and a special thank you to Martha and Daisy, who showed such care and concern while dad was in their care. Dad also had wonderful care at the Northpoint Village Assisted living home although he was there just a short time. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Hillcrest Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd. in Bakersfield. Private interment will be at a later date at the Bakersfield National Veterans Cemetery when the flowers are blooming in the springtime.
